Local SEO

Local SEO that puts your company in front of the homeowner down the street

A homeowner three miles away searches your trade and gets three businesses. Local SEO is the work that decides whether you are one of them: your Google profile, your city and service pages, your citations, and your reviews, handled together instead of one at a time.

Serving Houston, Katy, Cypress, Spring, Sugar Land, The Woodlands, and Pearland.
What The Work Actually Is

Four things decide local rankings. We run all four.

Most contractors have one of these handled and assume that is local SEO. It is the combination that moves you into the map pack and keeps you there.

Your Google Business Profile

Categories, services with real descriptions, photos, posts, and hours. It is the single biggest lever in local search, and it is the one most often left half filled out. Covered in depth on our Google Business Profile management page.

City and service pages

A page for each service you sell and each suburb you want work in, written with enough local detail to be worth ranking. Not the same paragraph with the city name swapped, which Google has been ignoring for years.

Citations and listings

Your name, address, and phone identical everywhere they appear: Apple Maps, Bing, Yelp, industry directories, chambers. Mismatched details across sites quietly hold down rankings and confuse the AI assistants that read them.

Reviews, steadily

Review signals carry roughly a fifth of local ranking weight, and how recently you earned them matters as much as the count. A trickle every month beats a burst last year. Handled in Reputation and Reviews.

Honest Expectations

What local SEO does and does not do

We would rather you hear this now than three months in. Local SEO is a compounding asset, not a switch. If you need calls this week, that is Lead Generation.

What it does

  • Puts you in the map pack for the suburbs you actually serve
  • Produces calls that do not cost you a click fee
  • Keeps working during the months you pause advertising
  • Feeds the AI assistants homeowners now ask for recommendations

What it does not do

  • Fill your calendar next week. That is what ads are for.
  • Rank you in cities you do not actually work in
  • Survive a profile nobody touches for six months
  • Beat a competitor with 200 reviews while you have four
Local SEO FAQ

Straight answers about ranking locally

What is local SEO for a home service company?

It is the work that decides whether you appear when a homeowner nearby searches your trade: your Google Business Profile, the city and service pages on your website, your citations across other directories, and your reviews. National SEO chases keywords everywhere. Local SEO chases the few miles around the homes you actually drive to, which is the only traffic that can become a job.

How long does local SEO take to work?

Profile and citation fixes can move rankings within days. New city and service pages usually take one to three months to settle, and competitive terms in a market the size of Houston take longer. Anyone promising page one in thirty days is either targeting keywords nobody searches or is about to do something that gets your listing suspended.

Do I need a page for every suburb I serve?

You need them for the suburbs you actually want work in, and each one has to say something true about that area. Ten thin pages with the city name swapped out do nothing and can work against you. A handful of real pages naming neighborhoods, the problems common to those houses, and jobs you have done there is what ranks and what a homeowner believes.

Is local SEO better than running ads?

They do different jobs. Ads turn on today and stop the moment you stop paying. Local SEO takes months and then keeps producing calls without a daily budget. Most home service companies we work with run ads for cash flow now and build local SEO for the leads that cost nothing per call later. Doing only one is why revenue swings so hard between seasons.

Can I just do this myself?

The profile work, yes, if you have a few hours a month and the patience to keep at it. Where owners get stuck is the website side: the city pages, the technical fixes, the schema, and the discipline to keep publishing once roof season gets busy. That is usually the point where it stalls, and a stalled effort ranks about the same as no effort.
